look great in 08: #5

week: +2.5
total: -3.5

January of 2007, I bought a bathroom scale, the cheapest one I could find. It served me well, but here's the weird thing: the tread started slipping off the edge of the scale. Increasingly, I found my foot really sticky after weighing, from the glue that was supposed to be holding the tread to the scale. So, last week I bought another scale, one that appears to be a solid piece of plastic, and which has a digital readout. Unfortunately, it insists that I've gained 2.5 pounds in the last week. And maybe I have: we've been working out pretty frequently, and I'm sure I'm building muscle. Plus, my waist to hip ratio is the same as it was 2 weeks ago (although I'm never quite sure how accurate I am in taking those measurements).

So, I will reiterate something I know I've said before: I am not a number! I'm a free (wo)man!

I was reading a blog that was talking about a man who was trying to lose weight and he celebrated a big goal that he had met by buying a new scale. It read 7 lbs over his prior weight. He lost it and ditched the whole effort. It was too disappointing. That is so sad. I am glad that your perspective on this is better. Take care, be good to yourself this week (and always)!

Every single scale is different. I'll bet you didn't really gain that weight! It'll be interesting to see next weeks weigh in results!

Yeah, I'd say take that "gain" with a grain of salt! Keep making healthy choices! :-)

I've never thought of it before, but I'm sure scales are like clothing sizes....a size 12 in one brand is a size 16 in another.

Good job for not getting discouraged. I'll be looking forward to what the new scale says next week!
